Two 'F' Words I Love...Fall & Fashion!

Posted on

SO! This is my first blog post, during fall, (my favorite season). Fall usually involves pumpkins, and other seasonal foods and spices, fragrances that make you feel warm and cozy, harvest festivals, shedding of leaves, and fall fashion of course!

In the worlds of food and fragrance, we are wrapped up in flavors and scents of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove (Y’all know that pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks ), and in the world of body care, home fragrance, hand soaps and sanitizers, fall often means getting sweet scents in any combination of apple, cinnamon, vanilla, pecan, and pretty much pumpkin everything… (check out Bath & Body Works)

As fall marks the transition from summer into winter, in the world of fashion this signifies the pulling and picking of sweaters, scarves, boots and coats – specifically duster coats this season, to accommodate the arrival of the cooler fall temperatures.

Never mind the fact that I live in The Bahamas where it seems we have 365 days of summer, and if I dream about wearing ‘fall outfits’ in this warm climate, my body would be completely unhappy by the lack of air, and my poor style judgement.

So, what do you wear for fall when the Fahrenheit is high? For those of you living in warm climates or the tropics like I do, here are some ways you may incorporate some fall fashion and style into your wardrobe to look chic and remain cool.

  1. Include earth tones and fall colors into your outfits. Think about the 'autumn leaf phenomenon' which affects the way usually green leaves change. Play with the rich and vibrant fall shades of red, yellow, purple, orange, brown, magenta, pink, blue and even black, when putting together ensembles.
  2. Accessorize well! Combine a light chiffon scarf with your outfit in one of the fall colors mentioned earlier, or in an animal print. Consider sporting a warm colored fedora, wearing cute earthy toned loafers, and add a vibrant colored tote to hold all of those dark and vampy fall lipsticks. (Check out MAC's 'Liptensity' colors which are great for fall)
  3.  Wear prints and patterns this season—but don’t overindulge! Plaids, and certain floral prints can be included into your wardrobe to add some flavor. Again, channel those fall colors—Google ‘New Hampshire in the fall’, and take a look at the striking fall leaves, then draw some ‘stylespiration’ from it.

For all the fall lovers out there in warm climates or the tropics, how do you do fall fashion?
